Planning your journey to Rishikesh Yog Darshan? We’re here to make your arrival smooth and stress-free. Here’s everything you need to know before you pack your bags and head to the spiritual heart of India.

Visa Information

Before travelling to India for your yoga journey, please apply for a Tourist Visa or an e-Visa. The duration typically ranges from 30 to 180 days, depending on the type of visa you select. It’s quick and easy to apply online.

How To Reach Us

From Delhi Airport:

Most international flights land at Indira Gandhi International Airport (Delhi). From there, you have two options:

  • Fly to Dehradun: Take a short domestic flight to Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun), which is just about 45 minutes away from Rishikesh. We can arrange a taxi pickup from Dehradun upon request.
  • Direct Pickup from Delhi: Prefer a direct drive? We offer pickup service from Delhi Airport to our school for an additional fee of $100. It's a scenic 5-6 hour journey through the beautiful landscapes of northern India.

Let us know your travel plans in advance so we can assist you better.

Weather in Rishikesh

Rishikesh has a diverse climate, so here's what to expect:

  • October to February: Crisp winter days and cool evenings—bring warm layers.
  • March to June: Sunny and warm. June is the hottest, great for temple visits and peaceful riverside walks.
  • July to September: Monsoon season—expect lush greenery, misty skies, and occasional showers.

What to Pack

Pack mindfully and keep the seasons in mind. We suggest:

  • Comfortable yoga clothes for practice.
  • Weather-appropriate clothing (layers in winter, light cotton in summer).
  • Personal items and any specific essentials.

We’ll provide yoga mats and course materials, so no need to worry about that. Any special requirements will be shared with you before your course begins.

Shops & Essentials Nearby

While we’re tucked away in nature for peace and inspiration, we’re also just a short walk from the local market. You’ll find everything you need—from yoga wear, snacks, and toiletries to medicines and charming cafés—right within reach.

Currency Exchange

You can exchange currency at:

  • The airport on arrival
  • Nearby exchange centres in Rishikesh, close to our school

We recommend carrying enough cash to pay your remaining course fee upon arrival, as it’s payable in Indian Rupees. The rest can be exchanged locally as needed.

Electric Plugs in India

India uses Type C, D, and M plug sockets. It’s a good idea to bring a universal adapter or a multi-purpose charger to keep all your devices powered up.

Getting a Local SIM Card

Staying connected is easy. You can purchase an Indian SIM card:

  • At the airport
  • In the local market
  • Or directly at our school reception

Just carry a copy of your passport and visa to register your new number.

“If you have any questions before your arrival, feel free to reach out. We’re here to help and excited to welcome you to your yogic journey in the land of the Himalayas.”
